Studio and Process
How Gulab Hussain records voice overs remotely from Delhi: briefing, test read, live-directed sessions, editing, WAV delivery and revisions.
You do not need to be in Delhi to work with a Delhi voice over artist. Recording is remote, the files are delivered online, and you can still direct the session live. This page walks through the steps so you know what to send, what to expect and when.
The process, step by step
- Brief. Send the script, the language, the tone you want, where the audio will be used and your deadline. A reference clip of the style you like helps more than adjectives.
- Quote and test read. You receive a fixed quote. If you want to hear the voice on your own words first, Gulab records a short test read.
- Recording. Gulab records in his studio. For ads, character work and anything precise, you can join a live call and give direction as it happens.
- Editing. Breaths, clicks and noise are cleaned, takes are assembled to the script, and levels are set to the target you give, for example a typical loudness for web video, broadcast or telephony.
- Delivery. You receive WAV masters through a download link, with MP3 on request. IVR prompts arrive as separate named files.
- Revisions. Misreads and mispronunciations are fixed. Script changes after recording are quoted for the new lines only.
What helps the recording go well
- A pronunciation list. Brand names, product names, technical terms and place names. Spell them as they should sound, in Devanagari or Roman script, whichever is clearer.
- The final script. Re-recording after edits costs time. Send the approved version where possible.
- Timing notes. For video, share the picture lock or timecodes so the read can be paced to the cut. For ads, state the seconds.
- The output format. Tell Gulab the sample rate, file type and loudness your platform needs. For phone systems that is usually 8 kHz telephony audio.
Live-directed sessions
A live session works like being in the booth. You hear the take as it is recorded, ask for it warmer, faster or more serious, and approve it before the session ends. It is the best option for commercials, brand films and character voices. For long, straightforward material such as e-learning or audiobooks, a non-live workflow with a test read is usually faster and costs less.
Recording quality
The result you receive is clean, close, broadcast-style audio from a treated recording space, with no room echo and no background noise. If your editor needs the voice dry for processing, say so and the files will be delivered unprocessed.
